Niculescu played a brilliant first set, using her unorthodox style to
unsettle the top seed Shvedova on more than one occasion. Niculescu
played superb tennis mixing her forehand under spins and topspins much
to the dismay of the higher ranked Kazakh player to force a tiebreak
and score an convincing 7-3 win .

set and looked like serving out the match having 2 match points, but
Shvedova hung on , saved the match points and broke Niculescu in the
10th game and level scores at 5-5

She then held on to her serve and broke the nervous Niculescu again in
the 12th game to take the second set 7-5 and take the match into the
third set.

In the third set Shvedova seemed more comfortable tackling Niculescu
in the third set racing to a 3-0 lead, before the birthday girl won
two games to reduce the deficit to 3-2, Shvedova showed good
character to hold on and break Niculescu in the 4th game and then
held on to her serve to go up 5-3, In the 6th game the promising
encounter ended with two double faults by Niculescu.

It was not an easy match to win, my shoulder was tight in the
beginning, and I had pain while serving. But with treatment from the
physio I felt relieved and started playing much better Shvedova said
after the match.

I know it was her birthday, and feel for spoiling Niculescu birthday,
it is a sport and this happens , she added

Local favorite Akgul Amanmuradova keep up her splendid run in
tournament upsetting fifth seed Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland
6-1,6-4 in 60 mins , to record one of her most convincing wins.

seemed to have helped me today, said Akgul after her match. It ll be
my third semifinal at Tashkent and probably the second final she said
replying to her expectations about the semifinal match to be played
tomorrow.

level scores. Peer survived 2 breakpoints in the 9th game, but held on
to her serve to go up 5-4.In the 10th game Peer moved into the next
gear securing the decisive break and win the second set 6-4 and make
