Interview of the day : Nao Hibino

30 September 2016

Fourth seeded Japanese  Nao Hibino will look to be the first player to break the 18 year old Tashkent  open Jinx by winning the title for the second time ( No player in the last 18 years has won the title two times. The event always had a new winner )

Hibino reached the second final in Tashkent outplaying Denisa Allertova 6-2,6-3 in just over a hour, The tournament that gave a footing on the WTA tour  to the 21 year Hibino continues to be favorite event. Hibino who had lost to Allertova on Grass in England earlier played steady  , composed and quick thinking tennis  to move into the finals

She spoke to the Tashkent Open Media Team after her win here

About how she felt reaching   the finals for the second time in a row ?
" Unbelievable "

About her match today
I was nervous ,wanted to make the final at any cost , I focused on  every point and it helped.

How was your top 100 journey  since you won here last year ?

I had tough year on the tour ,  I didn't do well at all  ,  because it was tough playing very good plyers , I had no experience and didn't get the results I was expecting . I changed my game to compete with  players at the level , the players  hit the ball hard and I have to hit harder , I changed my technique . So I'm trying hard to hang in there.

About her expectations of the finals ?
I have played against Pliskova  twice and have lost both times , I will be the challenger tomorrow  . But I Will be looking forward to break the Tashkent jinx of a player never having won the title for the second time by winning here tomorrow.

About Tashkent being lucky for her  and hoping  being an experienced player  will do well this year,?

I started my top 100 journey in Tashkent ,  I realize what I was trying in my game , the entire year  has started working here this week  Tashkent Open is lucky ,  I like the courts her they suit your game ,  I feel like this is my second home and would like to stay  for longer. If possible I could take back home  the court from here.

I hope the second year as top 100 player will be good one  for me and I will have some good results.
