Children's Day

During the last 20 years Tennis has been developing in Uzbekistan. It can be proved by the fact that every year tennis lovers all over the world are interested in International competitions held in Uzbekistan. During 13 years a range of international players including tennis stars have been participating in Tashkent Open tournament. Also Tashkent Open has been a good start for many young players for many years. Along with the main tournament a range of different interesting events take place here every year. Such as : Children’s day, VIP Tournament, Master Classes and others. Children’s tournament is an important part of Tashkent Open. Here young players can learn and get inspired for their further wins. Today’s Children’s Tournament was devided in to two parts children under 7 years and children under 10 years. The competition was interesting and exciting, small sportsmen tried their best to show off their skills. Here are the winners of the day: 1.Kaleria Tomashevich 2.Viktoria Danilina 3.Daria Kornilova Children under age 7: 1.Tashpulatova Aziza 2.Kim Ruslana 3.Khan Yulia. During the years of independence Uzbekistan became a country with broad developed tennis infrastructure. It was acknowledged by the tennis world long time ago, what is approved with global interest to international tennis tournaments and championships which are conducted in the Republic. Depending on the rank of competitions young tennis talents, mature masters and celebrity stars from different countries and continents come here. For youth growth of Uzbekistan tennis every such visit is a great master-class. Because people, who are responsible for development of this kind of sport in our country, are convinced that exactly such kind of tournaments can show children what tennis is – watching the play they become “infected” with enthusiasm and desire to become strong and skilled masters of racket.
Almost from the start of the very first international tournament conducted on the Uzbek soil it has become a tradition to conduct different arrangements for kids. These international tournaments are one of the components of the program of development of children’s  tennis in our country, bringing up players of the future generation.
Organization of special “Kids days” – arrangements for pupils of tennis clubs and children who had just started to learn tennis alphabet is a longstanding tradition of Tashkent Open. The next Tashkent Open will not be an exemption. Moreover, within the framework of the tournament organizers planed a scaled program of support for children’s tennis in Uzbekistan, which will be expressed in addressed transfer of a big portion of humanitarian goods – balls, rackets, play uniforms of famous sports equipment brands  to tennis clubs and children’s and youth sport schools. Since it is not a secret, that one of the biggest obstacles for growth of young tennis-players, especially at the periphery, is a lack of quality modern inventory.

In order to depress the sharpness of this challenge and to promote creation of better conditions for preparation of young tennis-players, the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation in collaboration with its partners is realizing this humanitarian program.

In 2007 similar arrangement had taken place in Fergana at the height of traditional spring men’s challenger. Organizers tried to turn the ceremony of transfer of tennis inventory at the sport complex “Istiklol” in to a festival which served the purposes of popularization of tennis. There was a sport-theater action at the central court. At the beginning little children who only started their acquaintance with tennis, one might say young shoots of International tennis federation’s program “School tennis initiative” run out to the court. For kids there was a bright show of mini tennis. And for elder children (not only for Fergana children, but for pupils of Namangan and Andijan tennis schools) – model lesson which was conducted by the members of Uzbekistan national team Murad Inoyatov and Vaja Uzakov as well as Shukhrat Kayumov and Zafar Daminov. The tennis program varied by performance prepared by other boys and girls who had chosen another kind of sport for themselves – gymnastics, teakwondo, karate… And four acrobats not only built three-storied pyramid, but unfurled flag of Uzbekistan at its peak.
At the same time a mountain of tennis equipment grew along the sideline of the court: boxes with balls, sport shoes, t-shirts and shorts. Rackets were waiting for their recipients from Fergana , Namangan , Andijan, Bukhara , Kashkadarya, Samarkand , Khoresm regions and Karakalpakstan. A panel of judges prepared lists of the gifted children, who were to receive the valuable prizes.

After, there was another symbolic ceremony – the awarding of those who made a significant contribution for the development of the “School tennis initiative” program with special signs of federation. Awards were presented to Vyacheslav Kim and Raisa Kalkamanova from Fergana, Obid Burkhanov and Yusuf Kuchkarov from Andijan, Makhmid Turaev from Bukhara, Galina Gurskaya from Samarkand, Vitaliy Nikiforov from Karshi and Oleg Khaliulin, who was recognized as the best coordinator of the program.

Supervisor of the Fergana challenger Englishman Karl Baldwin, mentioning concernment of such procedure of tennis popularization among children, emphasized another aspect of this event: “This arrangement effected the participants of the competitions – they realized how much Uzbekistan people like tennis. And they will tell their friends at other tournaments about what they saw. All this will improve prestige of your country, prestige of the Uzbek tennis.
Thinking not only about the prestige, but more about youth tennis generation, tennis federation of Uzbekistan dated the next action to such important and significant event as Open Tashkent championship. And this means that new perspective boys and girls will get additional incentive to hard coaching.
